A fantastic story. At Newcastle SLSC we have a fantastic group of youth who have been with us since U6 in Nippers. Keep making us proud just like this young man up the coast at Ballina ☀️🌊⚫️⚪️Riley Green from Ballina Lighthouse & Lismore SLSC had just started his afternoon patrol last weekend when he was approached by two elderly women who required assistance.
As it turned out one of the women was an avid fan of going to the beach but had not been able to attend for over a year after undergoing double knee surgery.
Sensing her nervousness about returning to the beach, and despite being one of the more inexperienced members on duty that day, Riley immediately offered to escort the woman down to the water!
Some familiar names and faces to Newcastle SLSC - fantastic history ☀️🌊⚫️⚪️The Hunter Branch team to New Zealand in 1977. Three Cooks Hill individuals featured in this team. P McPherson, Iain Gerald (Hermit) d,Arcy (Life Member) and Neil (Neighbour) McPherson (Life Member). Can anyone tell me what event Gerald was competing in as he is versatile as an athlete. He is a gun sweep, incredible balance who delights in telling me I only have to wiggle my ears to unbalance a boat on a wave. Thanks to my mate Ross Taggart for sharing this on another page. I did pinch it, and acknowledge Ross as the source of the image. (Mayo) ... See MoreSee Less

Well done mate. It’s a tough gig to wait for countless hours at a NSW championship. Trae trains for the board and flags as well as his beach sprints throughout the year with often no one left on the beach when he’s waiting to race. I know Jack and Oscar appreciate your efforts at Branch carnivals to give them a board relay team. Be proud mate, inter branch selection and state semis in one season in a tough arena is a great result.👍🏼🏃🏼♂️
State Age news !!! Jack Johns through to the final for board & swim U 12. Oscar Roberts through to the final for swim U13. Both boys missed out by one place to progress to the final for their Ironman, but from all accounts raced awesomely through their rounds. Tray made it through to the semis for his flags just missing the final. Congratulations boys on your racing today. Jack & Oscar have their board rescue tomorrow and finals on Sunday- GOOD LUCK ☀️🌊🥇⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️⚫️ ... See MoreSee Less
